One of the first countries to pass an Animal Protection Law in the 1850’s, France is famous for romancing its pets, so much so that the country has twice as many pets as there are children.
A pioneer in animal welfare, the French take much pride in their pets and love to spoil them silly. Don’t be surprised if you see cute little dogs being fed directly from plates on a table next to yours. With a population of 2.1 million, there is one dog for every seven Parisians and wherever they go their dogs accompany them, be it restaurants, shops or public places.
